I see more and more people promising success in sync by saying “I’ll help you make your tracks placement-ready” in some way or another. Like, is that all you (reader) really want?

When I reflect on the first years of my sync career, having “placement-ready” tracks was not my priority. Why? Because I could barely make rent. I could barely buy the food I wanted.

Screw passive income or thoughts of increasing earning potential – I was in survival mode.

When Cymatics releases a new sample pack, they seem to love using the term “placement-ready”. Same goes for Unison, and more.

Are they talking about sync placements? Are they talking about a major artists buying your beats? Are they saying you’ll go viral on TikTok?

Truth be told, “placement-ready” means nothing if you don’t cultivate the correct mindset for hearing value before you write a single note (more on this in a bit).

You can only cultivate the high-value sync mindset by one of two ways:

1. Spending 10+ years in the industry, notching wins into your bed post and grinding into the night.

2. Investing your precious money (that you can only afford to multiply) into someone who actually builds the foundation of your 6-figure sync career with you.

What goes into your 6-figure sync foundation? Think of it like a staircase: You start on the bottom and ascend to the top. They’re large steps that are bigger than you, which means you can’t skip them easily.

While simple to ascend, it takes full force and effort to reach the next step in sequence. What waits at the top is a consistent stream of royalty checks that grows as you inject more and more value into your catalog.

STEP 1: 6-FIGURE SYNC MINDSET STRATEGY

Most “coaching programs” put some sort of mindset training into their curriculum. On the one hand, crushing limiting beliefs about success is a good thing (you can’t achieve what you don’t believe).

On the other hand, people often deem “mindset training” optional and just want the good stuff. “Mindset trainings” take up space because they’re often woo-woo or deal with the power of the mind, which most people don’t care to connect with.
